Right after our Zen Meditation Group at 6PM! Recovery Dharma is a peer-led movement and community that is unified by our trust in the potential of each of us to recover and find freedom from the suffering of addiction. We believe that the traditional Buddhist teachings, often referred to as the Dharma, offer a powerful approach to healing from addiction and living a life of true freedom.
We believe that recovery means empowerment, and we support each other as partners walking the path together. We believe that recovery is rooted in finding our own inner wisdom and individual journeys. Recovery Dharma is founded on, and inspired by, Buddhism that originated in India and later on flourished in other regions of Asia (e.g., South Asia, East Asia, Southeast Asia, Central Asia). We deeply appreciate the Buddhist heritage that was protected and freely offered by the ancestors of these cultures. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to [email protected]

This Sunday's Speaker is Arthur W. Breese (In-person)!
Sermon Title: Stay Woke

Sermon Description: I stand before you today with a message that is both urgent and empowering. It's about staying WOKE—not just in the sense of being awake, but in embracing awareness, empathy, and action in our lives and in our work. In a world filled with distractions, it's easy to become complacent or even indifferent to the challenges around us. But to stay WOKE means to remain vigilant, to stay informed, and to actively engage with the world as it is, not as we wish it to be.

Bio: I'm the VP for DEI/EE at the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. I was formerly employed as a consultant at BE-Equitable and Geisinger as the Director of Diversity. My passion is my work in social justice. I have four dogs, Nutmeg, Ebony, Cooper, and Gizmo. In my free time I love to read and do research in health/mental health disparities. My life's purpose is to leave this world better than when I came in.

Recovery Dharma

WVCUUPs Online Full Moon Ritual

Join us for Magick and connection in our online Full Moon ritual! Many of us started out as solitary practitioners on our Pagan and Witch paths. To those of us introverts, it can be quite a leap to seek out other like-minded groups.

Online rituals can offer the best of both worlds to those who are more comfortable casting alone. You can turn off your video feed if it is more comfortable, set up your space and connect while being led in ritual simultaneously. Please join us.

Fourth Thursday Book Group
February 22 at 7:30 p.m.

This month the group will meet to discuss The Covenant of Water by Abraham Verghese. Set in Kerala,
India, the story follows three generations of a family with a peculiar affliction: in every generation, at least one person dies by drowning. A shimmering evocation of a bygone India and of the passage of time itself, the book is a hymn to progress in medicine and in human understanding. It is one of the most masterful literary novels published in recent years. We usually meet both by Zoom and in-person.

For more information, contact Rob Lewis, [email protected]

In the spirit of embracing change and progress, we have embarked on a journey to revamp our online presence, creating a website that reflects the warmth and openness of our gatherings and community.

Our new website is not just a digital platform; it's an extension of our welcoming sanctuary, where everyone is embraced, valued, and celebrated and we want our website to truly reflect it.

This week!!

We are kicking off this week with some lovely events and gatherings including our Starting Point UU Classes.

Are you interested in membership at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Wyoming Valley? Or just learning more about UUism and our congregation? We have a 2 session online orientation to help!
The Orientation is part of our “Path to Membership” and is intended for folks who are considering becoming a member of our congregation, although it does not require a commitment to join. The first session focuses on information about the denomination, the second on is about our congregation. Newcomers should be encouraged to attend both.

Any questions feel free to reach out the Shannon at shannon.lynn.saylor(at)gmail(dot)com

    Welcome to our Church!

If you're searching for a religious home that is guided by a quest for truth and meaning, not by a set creed or dogma, we invite you to discover Unitarian Universalism. We are a caring, open-minded religious community that encourages you to seek your own spiritual path.

Our worship services begin at 10:30 on Sunday morning and combine a mixture of music, speaking, and silence. While the topics for our services vary greatly from week to week, the general outline for our services remains fairly constant. See this page for more information.
